Can you tell me more information about the licensing process and how I apply for my license?

Please note, the MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy is in charge of applications and licenses. We are the Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Our association is a non-profit organization separate from the regulatory board. The Association works to protect and promote our profession by providing continuing education and such. The Board is in charge of granting licenses and regulating licensees; their main goal is to protect the public.
I am in the process of becoming an AAMFT approved supervisor and would like to apply to be a Minnesota Board Approved Supervisor as well. How do I do this?

The MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy is in charge of applications and licenses, including becoming a board approved supervisor. The Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is a non-profit organization separate from the regulatory board (a government entity). The Association works to protect our profession and provide continuing education and such. The Board is in charge of granting licenses and regulating licensees; their main goal is to protect the public.

MAMFT is a professional association so we are not in charge of granting licenses. This is a question better suited for the MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy (https://mn.gov/boards/marriage-and-family/). You can email them at mft.board@state.mn.us or call at 612-617-2220.
I am now fully licensed, and would like to update my membership from pre-clinical to licensed. Will you let me know the correct way to go about doing that?

I am currently working on my Masters in Child and Family Social Work. I am wondering, even though I am not enrolled into a college that has an MFT program, is there any advice or courses you could recommend for me to take to be able to receive my license in MFT?
