"Must Have Techniques in Couples Therapy" with Sandy Sample, LMFT
Presenter’s Bio: Sandy Sample, LMFT, has been a psychotherapist for 10 years, and is a board-approved supervisor. Sandy is in private practice and is also employed at Catalyst Mental Health in Minneapolis. She is currently applying to be an EMDRIA-certified EMDR therapist, and specializes in trauma work. Sandy also focuses on treating anxiety, depression, and relational issues.
Description: Relationship/couples therapy involves not only working with the individuals present but also the dynamics they create. The combination of individual characteristics and problems unique to the relationship create a challenge for the therapist when first working with them. This workshop will provide several skills and interventions to apply in relationship therapy, and may provide useful ways to start the complex work of healing in a relationship. These are techniques frequently used and effective in making progress in therapy.
Workshop Objectives:
1. learn effective communication skills
2. identify frequent challenges in building a healthier relationship
3. learn helpful interventions when working with couples
