Presented By:Ted Bowman, MDiv
Workshop Description: Failure to address the loss of the future story (foreclosure, job loss, healthcare limits, delayed retirement, unwanted divorce, and diagnosis) can make it difficult for individuals and families to move forward to take initiative to seek ways of living with losses.
In this session, perspectives, frameworks and responses will be presented, demonstrated and discussed for addressing the loss of the future story. Connections to chronic sorrow, futurelessness, and a history of losses will be included. Honest hope and realistic resiliency will be evaluated and explored. Clinical connections between grieving and hoping will be shown.
Workshop Objectives: By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1) Distinguish differences between tangible losses and the psycho-social loss of the future story
2) Describe multiple responses to shattered dreams, loss of hope, and perceived plans for the future
3) Apply the workshop to their practices, with a specific plan for use of the material
